UKRO Practitioners Workshop and Rope Rescue Challenge
On Friday 4th April Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service (DSFRS) will be hosting a UKRO Practitioners workshop. The workshop is designed for one or two representatives from each team and UKRO Assessors. The aim will be to demonstrate some practical techniques which will not only be useful for future challenges, but will also enhance your team’s operational capability.
This event will follow the CFOA Working at Height group meeting, both of which are being held at our Service Headquarters, Clyst St George, Exeter. On Saturday 5th April DSFRS will be hosting a Rope Rescue challenge at the same venue.
Rope Rescue teams are invited to enter the challenge which will be centred on our bespoke multi-level and functional rope rescue tower and USAR rig, undertaking realistic scenario based exercises. This will give an opportunity for teams to put into practice techniques, safe systems and team work using existing skills and those gained from the workshop on the previous day.
The events are free to attend with lunch and refreshments provided. We have a list of local hotels if teams are looking to stay overnight or free camp pitches will be available on the venue site.
The challenge will consist of a series of scenarios, designed to test the individual and teams ability.
A team will have a maximum of 6 members for each scenario, although it will be permissible to bring more members with you and rotate the crews throughout the day.
A declaration of the team members will be required before each scenario. Each team may be expected to perform the following techniques and skills:
