23rd to 25th September 2011 - UKRO London Challenge
The National UKRO Challenge has seen, year on
year, standards increasing in the full range of skills which have been
displayed by professionals from Fire and Rescue Services across the UK.
UK Rescue Challenge includes the following disciplines:
- Extrication - cutting out trapped casualties from crashed cars;
- Trauma – treating casualties at the scene before medics’ arrival;
- Rope rescue - rope rescues from tall buildings, cranes or bridges;
- USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) - rescues from collapsed building or confined spaces.
This years competition will be hosted by London Fire Brigade at the award winning ExCeL Centre, one of the Olympic 2012 venues. Occupying 7000 square meters, this venue will see professional firefighters display advanced techniques, equipment and skills which are required in todays fireservice.
The free two-day event will also feature a large trade exhibition with a variety of demonstrations, a community safety village promoting vital fire safety to the general public and a conference aimed at Chief Fire Officers from the fire and rescue service across the UK.
Participating teams will also benefit from a host of education opportunities. With key industry researchers and rescue professionals looking at LGV, New Vehicle Technologies and Vehicle Construction.

The free event will be taking place on Friday 23 September - Saturday 24 September 2011 at the award winning ExCeL London .
