Hampshire 2010 A Great Success
The preparations for Hampshire 2010 started back in early 2009; key work which underpinned the overall success of the UKRO Hampshire 2010 National Challenge and was reflected in the comments received from the teams and all those involved.
With teams arriving on Thursday morning ready for the opening ceremony that evening, there was much for them to look forward to within the forthcoming two days.
Friday 1st October saw a complex timetable of events smoothly attended by teams within the Compulsory LGV workshop, Trauma Challenge, Rope Rescue Challenge, New Vehicle Technologies Workshop and the Extrication Challenge. The efforts of all those teams as they strived to prove their extensive skills, and further their learning within the workshops should be applauded, especially considering the harsh weather conditions which they all endured throughout the day.
Just about every fire service in the UK was represented at the competition and we look forward to completing this picture for 2011. The teams involved gained much from the workshops and proved once again that we have some of the best rescue professionals in the world.
Saturday 2nd saw the top 20 extrication teams through for their complex scenario, whilst the trauma and rope rescue teams again displayed their extremely competent skills battling it out for the top spots.
The UKRO as always is hugely appreciative of the support of all the event sponsors, and it is their involvement that ensures that the UK's rescue professionals can deliver the high standards that we have come to expect.
Please visit the challenge section for further details of the Hampshire 2010 event, where the results, conference notes, workshop notes, and photographs from the event will be available.
To all those that put themselves forward, well done; it is your dedication that makes our service a very special place to work and our communities a safer place to live.
